No-Sew Christmas Pillow

I love the idea of buying pillows for the home just for Christmas but I've never done it.  And they are usually quite pricey.  I had this white pillow hanging around so I thought I would try to do a simple DIY with no sewing!  I'm sure it would look much nicer with it stitched but who has the time??  Also, when you use felt it won't fray so it's much easier to iron on.  See my tutorial below ;)

1.  Cut out letters in felt.  I just photocopied some large letters to spell out JOY and then traced them onto red felt with a Sharpie.  I'm sure there is some more sophisticated way of doing this (i.e. transfer paper) but I just used what I had.

2.  Next I used hemming tape and ironed on the letters.  This hemming tape always comes with Ikea curtains and you can also purchase them at any sewing store.  You just iron on underneath fabric and it adheres perfectly!  No sewing needed.  ** Just make sure you don't get any of that hemming tape on the iron itself because it will melt to your iron!

3.  Wrap a pretty ribbon around it.  I used some leftover burlap ribbon that I put on our Christmas tree.  It has wire in it which is great to mould into a bow.

Ta da!!

Merry Christmas!

  3. So cute! What a great idea and I really like the touch of the ribbon. I don't usually splurge on Christmas pillows but this makes the idea reasonable.

Also, love your entry....I crave an entry that has room for a table in the middle for wonderful displays!!!! Maybe one day.
